St. Vincent's School


St.Vincent's School is an English medium school for boys founded in 1867 and named after Vincent de Paul, a 17th century saint well known for his love for the poor and the downtrodden.

The School, which is recognized by the Government of Maharashtra and prepares pupils for the Secondary School Certificate examination (Std. X) and for the Higher Secondary Certificate examination (Std. XII), is owned by the Poona Catholic Educational Association (Pvt.) Ltd. and managed by the Poona Jesuit School's Society , which belongs to the Christian religious minority group and therefore enjoy the rights and privileges guaranteed by Article 30 (I) of the Constitution of India.

The Society of Jesus, to which the Jesuit fathers and brothers belong, is a Christian religious order founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola in 1540. Active in the field of education throughout the world since its origin, the Society conducts in over 100 high schools and over a dozen colleges in which thousands of young people, belonging to every social class, community and linguistic group, are being educated through the medium of both English and the regional languages.

Pre-Primary School

The aim of the Pre-Primary School is to create an environment for the smooth transition from “home” to “formal learning.” The school will be a happy place to which the child will look forward to coming each day. It will seek to develop the emotional, social and aesthetic talents of each child. Hence, music, dance, fun and frolic, games, singing, creative play and social interaction will be the main thrust – the Play Way Method. Rhymes and jingles, dramatics, eurythmics, drawing, painting, paper, and craft will form the major part of the curriculum, which will include the introduction and development of reading and writing skills.

The school will have two stages
1. The Lower Kindergarten
2. The Upper Kindergarten

Lower Kindergarten (LKG) will admit children between four years to five years, age calculated from 01st October to 30th September every year.
